Masters in Conservation Leadership

Joy’s passion for the environment and the people who depended on it fueled her desire to complete her undergraduate studies and the move to volunteer at a local conservation charity working on the restoration of a transboundary lake straddling the border of Tanzania and Kenya.

She later worked with Fauna & Flora International on several conservation projects within East Africa ranging from endangered species protection to the establishment of innovative marine conservation models. Joy later established a green business incubator under a state corporation in Kenya, the National Environment Trust Fund, that continues to scale green enterprises.

Joy is currently an independent consultant working with various conservation organizations in strengthening their institutional capacities. These skills were honed while working with Maliasili, an organization dedicated to strengthening high potential wildlife conservation organizations.

In line with her work on wildlife and people, Joy is passionate about animal welfare and has been a member/supporter of the Kenya Society for the Protection and Care of Animals for over 10 years. She continues to rescue various animals from distress situations for support by the Society.

Joy is also an advocate for child and youth wellbeing and extends her passion through a mentorship program for developing country students in international universities.

She has environmental and conservation leadership degrees from Kenyatta University and the University of Cambridge respectively.
