Conservation Leadership Transformation Network symposium 2024
A three-day gathering designed to bring together key actors offering training programmes around the world with a focus on conservation leadership and capacity building, including those working in universities, NGOs and specialist training agencies. This event will build on the shared vision of this group for learning and non-competitive collaboration to support a Global Conservation Leadership Community of Practice to improve our programmes and address unmet capacity needs around the world.

We are grateful to the support of Jackie Deacon, Event Co-ordinator in Skukuza who will manage the conference logistics and assist with accommodation and travel for attendees as required.
Funding
NWU has secured funding for 30 people, it is very likely given the willingness to scale the group and invite other key actors we will need to seek further funding to allow for additional participants.
The additional cost per delegate will be R2595.00 for three days of conferencing which equates to around £120. Please contact Shelley if you are able to fund further participation.
What’s included:
NWU have secured funding for 30 participants which includes the following:
- A venue to host the conference 13-15 August.
- A light conference lunch for 30 people for the three days of conferencing.
- A welcome dinner on the 13 August in Skukuza’s boma. This is usually a braai (barbecue) with limited welcome drinks.

FAQ’s for Travel and Accommodation
Accommodation
There are two accommodation options. These can be booked directly through Jackey, who can invoice separately. Both are situated in the main camp and are walking distance to the conference facilities. Due to the timing of the conference we advise booking accommodation as soon as you are able.
Hotel:

Bungalows:
These are the more traditional option synonymous with Kruger and where the locals would stay, namely the bungalows or “Rondavels” as they are called:

Travel
Flights can be booked directly into Skukuza airport or alternatively Nelspruit International.Cars can be rented form Skukuza Airport or shuttles arranged. Kruger is a six-hour drive from Johannesburg. Jackey has contacts for shuttle services.
